Benefits The Yogalates class will help keep you healthy as it integrates and balances all the body systems. It keeps the body supple, stretches the spine, strengthens and stabilizes core muscles and massages vital internal organs. Learn the art of controlled breathing & concentration combined with carefully structured series of stretches & moves. The Yogalates class is a natural way of stress release and an excellent form of preventative medicine bringing the body, mind and emotions into harmony. Often one side of the body is more flexible. When the body is asymmetrical, we experience pain and discomfort, which lead to injuries. Regular practice will help heighten physical co-ordination and achieve balance between the left and right, front and back, top and bottom sides of the body. The Yogalates class leaves you feeling calm & centred, in a balanced way…the perfect answer for this fast-paced world we live in!!! It helps to restore symmetry, providing strength and flexibility through a series of Yoga asanas and Pilates techniques. It is a dynamic “moving meditation” that improves cardiovascular fitness, strength & flexibility in a safe & nurturing way. Posture, poise and concentration also improve.

Wendy began her first introduction to fitness & health through the performing arts and dance. She studied classical ballet through the London Royal Academy of Dance Certification Syllabus in Penang, Malaysia and later expanded her performing arts experience through contemporary dance under the guidance of leading Malaysian dancer & choreographer, Aida Redza, who is the founder member of Shakti Dances and ASK Dance Company at the National Arts Academy in Kuala Lumpur.
Wendy was then introduced to teaching aerobics as a means of physical training to help develop strength and stamina for her dance practice. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Wendy is currently a fitness and aerobics freelance instructor at most of the leading fitness centres/gyms in Penang. Her keen interest in health and fitness led her to the teachings of Yoga and other related Mind & Body philosophies such as Tai-Chi, which she is currently practicing under the guidance and support of her parents, who are also Tai-Chi masters with over 15 years of teaching experience, on the art of Tai-Chi.
Wendy holds an internationally-recognised certification as a qualified fitness professional with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), USA. Founded in 1985, today, ACE (USA) is America’s Authority on Fitness and is the largest fitness certification, education & training organizations in the world. The ACE’s (USA) stringent requirements in ensuring their professionals maintain their standards in teaching, has led Wendy to embark on specialized education modules like Training & Managing Special Populations ie Students with Lower Back Pain and Weight Management through Nutrition & Exercise. Wendy is also a certified Emergency Responder in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) & First Aid/Choking. Her Pilates trainings stem from an internationally-recognised certification as a Pilates professional with the TPC Training Systems, USA (formerly known as The Pilates Coach). She was trained directly by Leslee Bender, who is the founder of TPC Training Systems in Reno, Nevada (USA). In addition to that, Wendy is a qualified instructor under the Les Mills Body Training Systems (Australia) specializing in Body Balance and Body Step Training Systems. The Body Balance Training Systems enhances Wendy’s teachings in Yogalates as Body Balance is a workout formula that combines the holistic principles of Tai Chi, Yoga & Pilates with great modern music, catered for group exercise workout. Her Yoga teachings are also influences from Simon Borg Olivier (Yoga Synergy, Australia & Kuala Lumpur hub) and Rae Vavra (Yogazone Penang & Bhakti Yoga, California/USA).
Wendy’s passion for Yoga/Pilates and health & fitness, has driven her to sensitively blend her education, trainings and dance background, thus merging creativity with practicality while ensuring correct alignment and technique. This great combination helps to bring about balance & harmony in her students’ practice. Wendy utilizes the wall, props, seamless sequencing, partner yoga and restorative postures & techniques for rejuvenation & injury prevention. She believes that every individual is different and special in their own way, with different body needs and strengths.
The exercises she teaches in her class programs have been bio-mechanically analyzed thus, modifications and variations will be given to her students to accommodate the needs of a broad range of students with various fitness levels. Wendy also conducts private/personal training (PT) one-to-one sessions, using principles of Yoga & Pilates as a means of rehabilitation and therapy for students interested in correcting their posture, ie working intensively with her PT students on body alignment and injury prevention and even students recovering from back/spinal injuries or sport injuries. Her clients include people from all walks of life, with various fitness levels.
